Project Brief
This project was designed for Rotana Hotel’s F&B competition. The competition was based on designing a casual and homey Asian restaurant at Al Johari Rotana Hotel in Tanzania. Our group, consisting of two, won the second place in spring 2019. We named our restaurant Yong (Chinese for pupa), which the concept was derived from.
A design that promotes warmth and coziness, derived from the mesmerizing process of silk-making starting from the silk worms through the pupas. A space that demonstrates the emotional attachments, through the subtle, yet profound components that create an encompassing atmosphere. The concept is showcased through the whole process of designing the furniture, ceiling fixtures, and all design details in the space.
